My Story

Brazilian Native. Full-time New Yorker. Language Nut.

Olá! My name is Amanda Ruzza. I am from São Paulo, Brazil, but I have been living in New York for the past decade. My family has a diverse background, so growing up I learned to speak Italian and Spanish alongside Portuguese (of course!). I always loved languages, and in New York City, I am always amazed by the amount of different languages I hear everywhere I go.

I am a professional musician and have been fortunate enough to travel to many different countries. Whenever I travel, I like to try to learn as much of the local language as I can so I can interact with the people and better understand their culture.

So maybe you are like me and want to learn Portuguese before going to one of the Portuguese speaking countries (did you know there are 8 in the world?!). Or maybe you met some cool Portuguese speaking friends you want to talk to or you are just in love with the way it sounds. Whatever your reason, I would love to teach you this beautiful language!

I have been teaching Portuguese to private students for 7 years, and it makes me so happy when our lessons go from olá to conversations fully in Portuguese!
